The South African Mining Association (SAMA) is a national non-profit organisation representing traditional authorities and communities in relation to mining, mineral development, investment facilitation and sustainable economic growth throughout South Africa. Our mission is to ensure that mineral wealth located on traditional and communal land creates meaningful opportunities for communities through responsible mining, strategic partnerships and inclusive economic participation.
South Africa possesses some of the world's richest mineral resources. A significant portion of these resources is situated on traditional and communal land. For decades, many communities have remained excluded from meaningful ownership and participation in the mining economy. SAMA exists to change this. We create strategic partnerships between traditional authorities, mining companies, investors, financial institutions and government to unlock sustainable mining development that benefits communities and future generations.
